Greg Batts examines the impact of a quality deer management program that has been in effect for many years to determine whether harvesting more does produces higher quality bucks.
In addition, he is using remote cameras to determine the buck density of the management area. Bucks can be uniquely identified by their antlers in winter; Greg then employs mark-recapture statistics to estimate the buck density.
Greg is also using radio telemetry to analyze movement patterns of deer before, during and after the hunting season.
